PRESS RELEASE
Who is the Territory’s Volunteer of the year 2009? Tens of thousands of Territorians could win the second Volunteer of the year award. Nominations are open today! Volunteers around the NT are in contention for the prize which recognises and rewards thousands of people who help out in our community. This is the second Volunteer of the Year award specifically for Territorians and is managed by the peak body for volunteering in the NT, Volunteering Territory. James Sadler, Regional Development Officer for Volunteering Territory, says entering volunteers for the prize is an easy way to say thank you “It’s such a simple and effective way for friends, family and volunteer organisations to express their gratitude for the thousands of hours of volunteer work. There are somewhere in the region of 50-60,000 volunteers in the Northern Territory volunteering in areas such as sport and community service but people volunteer in radio stations, environment centres and many many other areas as well. I hope that people take the opportunity to nominate someone they know who has given their time to our community.” For more information and about the award please contact James Sadler on 8981 0027 or 0449 129023
