The Territory’s voluntary sector has a new advocate in James Sadler who has just joined the Darwin office of Volunteering Territory.
James is ready and willing to talk to Ministers and anyone who matters about raising the profile of volunteering and the voluntary sector in the Territory.
An experienced journalist and lobbyist in both Australia and the UK, he says he is looking forward to the challenge.
“I enjoyed the community advocacy I did in Britain in the last few years and I’m aiming to not only raise the profile of volunteering in the Northern Territory as a whole but also improve the recognition and respect for all voluntary organisations from the NT government. At present there is no minister responsible for volunteering, nor is there any regular funding for our industry.
I hope to address that as well as ensuring the voluntary sector is afforded the professional development it needs to best serve the needs of the community.”
James Sadler is the new Regional Development Officer for Volunteering Territory and comes to Darwin after working for six months in our Alice Springs office.
